Novalash Eyelash Extensions

QUESTION: HOW CAN I KEEP MY LASH EXTENSIONS LOOK GREAT LONGER?

So you went to The Loft Hair and Nail Sa lon in Tuscaloosa and walked out with the lashes you have always wanted! You now have longer, fuller, weightless lashes simply because you received The Loft Salon’s signature Novalash service… Tuscaloosa’s only professional lash extension service that uses doctor-formulated, formaldehyde free , and pharmaceutical grade materials certified and tested in the USA by the Cosmetic Extended Wear Association!

So how do you keep those lashes looking their best? Check out the Novalash aftercare instructions below!

  • Do not expose your Novalash eyelash extensions to water for at least 12 to 24 hours after they are applied to your natural lashes. If you wash your face within 24 hours after your Novalashes are applied avoid splashing water or getting facial cleansers around the eye area. Do not swim, shower, use hot tubs, or steam rooms for the first 12 to 24 hours.
  • Avoid contact between moisturizers, eye creams, or makeup removers and the Novalash eyelash extensions. Any cosmetic product or cleanser containing glycols, organic solvents, alcohol, or urea should be avoided. Products such as these can potentially break down the adhesive bond and shorten the duration of time the extensions stay on.
  • Use only Novalash approved water-soluble mascara on your eyelash extensions. Waterproof mascara should not be used. Repeated use of mascara may shorten the lifespan of Novalash eyelash extensions.
  • Curling of Novalash eyelash extensions is not recommended. Because the eyelash extensions come pre-curled, additional curling is not necessary and doing so may shorten the lifespan of the extensions by compromising the adhesive bond.
  • Avoid rubbing your eyes or pulling on your Novalash eyelash extensions. Any action with repeatedly puts stress or strain on your Novalash eyelash extensions will cause them to come off prematurely.
  • Eyelashes are normally shed on a regular basis, thus multiple extensions may be lost on any given day.
  • Visit your Novalash eyelash extension technician for touch-ups every 3 to 4 weeks to maintain your fuller longer lash line!

Bottom Line: Treat your Novalash eyelash extensions with care by accommodating their needs! NO water and steam for the first 24 hours. NO mascara unless you really want it. NO eyelash curling. NO eye rubbing. USE ONLY gentle cleansers around the eye area. If you can follow these simple recommendations your eyelash extensions can do their job longer!

Guy Talk: Spray Tans…Not for Sissies.

Friday, May 9th, 2008

BamaSalons.com sent in one of our Guy Talk researchers to give us a male’s version of receiving a spray tan. Read below and see what this tough guy had to say…

Had you ever received a spray tan before?

Nope. Never.

Why not?

I don’t know. I just didn’t.

What did you think getting a spray tan was going to be like?

I had no idea. I was actually kind of apprehensive about getting a spray tan. I wondered if it would it really work? You know like, would it really look like a natural tan? Would I be orange or something? I just really didn’t know.

What was the experience like?

Honestly, it was really fast and easy. You get in your birthday suit, stand on the numbers inside the booth, turn when the machine tells you to, get out when it tells you to, dry off, get dressed, and leave. I noticed I was tan a little while later and I was pleasantly surprised by how natural it really looked.

What did you like about the spray tan?

I liked that I didn’t get burnt for once. I liked that it was so fast and simple. And most of all liked that I didn’t have to worry about tan lines like I usually do when I’m tanning by the pool in my swim trunks. I’m not the type to sport a Speedo at the pool.

You wouldn’t wear a Speedo at the pool? Never?

Well, when I’m 60 years old that’s another story. I could just blame my fashion sense on being senile.

The BamaSalons.com Bottom Line : Never say never and spray tans are officially not girly.

Thanks to Planet Beach Tanning Salon for tanning this guy and setting the record straight…

Microdermabrasion Made Simple…

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

Microdermabrasion is a simple, straight forward, non-invasive procedure that revitalizes dull skin, reduces large pores, erases fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, reduces mild pigment irregularities (hyperpigmentation), stretch marks and age spots. It is equally effective to other skin treatments (on superficial imperfections) and, most importantly, it allows you to get back to your daily routine immediately after treatment.

Microdermabrasion machines are made of a compressor and pump that mix gentle abrasion with suction to peel the outer skin layer (10-15 microns of skin, a layer so thin that you can’t see it). The entire procedure, unlike dermabrasion or laser skin surgery, doesn’t take more than 30-60 minutes. You can have it on the face, neck, chest, back, feet and hands. Most people say that microderm abrasion felt a tingling sensation during treatment and a windburn-like sensation afterwards. The skin does tend to look slightly red in the first 24 hours, but that’s where the discomfort ends.

Q and A: What is a Medical Spa exactly and what should I expect when I visit one?

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

A medical spa is the combination of a cosmetic surgery office and a European day spa. Many or all of your aesthetic needs can be met in one location . Clients may be able to get laser hair removal, Botox treatments, Restylane injections , undergo sessions to help reduce cellulite, receive microdermabrasion , get a traditional facial, or enjoy a session of message therapy all under one roof in a relaxing atmosphere.

All medical spas must have a medical doctor on staff. Many medical spas are affiliated with plastic surgeons, cosmetic surgeons, dermatologists, and licensed aestheticians. Med Spa clients have the advantage of being able to get the advice of a trained physician that specializes in a skin fitness and general facial aesthetics.

You should expect a Medical Spa to be relaxing. Med spas should offer a soothing atmosphere that includes all the pampering and service you would expect from a traditional spa. Medical spas should have a variety of skin care products available for purchase. Licensed med spa personnel should be ready to assist clients with their individual skin and body care needs. Medical spas should offer their clients the same level of medical care that one would expect from a professional cosmetic surgery or dermatology office. Ultimately, med spa clients should expect to enjoy a relaxing atmosphere, receive excellent services, and leave rejuvenated!

Q & A: Which Tanning Bed Bulbs are the ‘Bronzing’ Bulbs?

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

Q:Which Tanning Bed Bulbs are the ‘Bronzing’ Bulbs?

A: BamaSalons.com consulted with Paradise Beach Tanning ’s owner, Christy Jennings, to get the scoop. Christy explained that it’s important to choose a tanning salon that offers tanning bulbs which give off higher levels of UVA rays compared to UVB rays. Most clients will develop a deeper golden tan because these rays penetrate deep into the skin and stimulate melanogenesis (the process that produces melanin) without the usual surface burning UVB bulbs often cause.

Bottom Line : Bronzing Bulbs radiate higher levels of UVA rays.
